Gabrugal Yana

Gabrugal Yana is a loop of up to 11 kilometres through the Western Sydney Parklands at Cecil Park and Abbotsbury, on the edge of Cecil Hills. Along the way are six art trees by First Nations artists, one for each Dharug season. Dogs are welcome on lead.

Lead rules

Greater Sydney Parklands requires dogs on a lead at all times on the trail.

The walk

This is a light-touch bush trail on natural earth and fire trails, not a paved path. Lookouts along the way look west to the Blue Mountains.

Shade is limited and parts are exposed, so it gets hot quickly. There are drinking fountains at the trailhead but none confirmed along the loop, so carry plenty of water and pack out your rubbish.

Getting started

The main entry is at the Wylde MTB and BMX complex off Range Road in Cecil Park, with free parking. There is some street parking near Robey Avenue.

Max: This is a long, exposed walk. Start early, carry more water than you think you need, and turn back if your dog is flagging.

Pair it with

Nearby in Cecil Hills, Mili & Co. Cafe does coffee, and Gough Park is a shorter local walk.

Save it for cooler months. It suits fit dogs used to longer walks.
