Casuarina Walk

Casuarina Walk threads through a small wetland reserve in Murray Bridge, with boardwalks and viewing platforms over the water. It is flat, short and easy, and dogs come along on a lead.

Lead rules

The Rural City of Murray Bridge requires dogs in public reserves and on walking tracks to be on a lead no longer than 2 metres, unless they are in a designated off-leash dog park.

The walk

The path is about 1.4 kilometres, flat and suitable for wheelchairs and prams, with boardwalk sections through the wetland. Birdlife is the main show, so expect a dog with its nose working overtime.

Seats and shelters sit along the way, and the trail runs into Parkview Reserve for extra open grass. Trees give some shade, with open patches between.

Getting started

Enter from Parkview Drive, Carex Court or Casuarina Walk, with street parking nearby. Bring water for the dog, as there are no dedicated dog fountains on the path.

For a longer walk, Rocky Gully Wetlands has dirt tracks and more birds, and Johnstone Park Fenced Dog Park offers a fenced off-lead run.

A gentle choice for older dogs, and for puppies still learning to walk nicely on lead.
