Moore Lookout

Moore Lookout is a small, elevated reserve on the Carindale and Mount Gravatt East border, a quiet on-leash walk with a bush-trail feel rather than a manicured park. Tracks climb to a bench seat at the high point, and the reward is a leafy lookout rather than a long circuit.

The walk

Soft-surface and paved tracks lead up to the summit, making this a shorter sniff-and-stroll of twenty minutes or so rather than a big outing. The reserve draws light but steady traffic through the week, so it stays calm even at popular times.

Leash status

Dogs must stay on lead, in line with Brisbane City Council's requirement for a lead no longer than two metres held by someone able to control the dog. Carry waste bags, as fines apply if you do not clean up.

Water and facilities

Facilities are limited compared with the area's dedicated dog parks: there is bench seating at the summit but no water, no agility equipment and no toilets, so bring your own water and a collapsible bowl.

Hazards

Stick to the formed paths, both to protect native vegetation and to avoid ticks, which turn up in the bushland fringes here. If you extend the walk towards the Bulimba Creek Bikeway near Minnippi Parklands, be aware heavy rain can flood sections of path near the creek.

Pepsi: this is a lead-on walk, so treat it as the calm leg of the day and save the off-lead time for one of the fenced parks nearby.

Getting there and parking

Access is via local residential streets on the Carindale side, with generally available on-street parking. Translink buses service the Carindale interchange, a short walk from the reserve, for anyone arriving by public transport.

When to go

Mornings and weekends are generally calmer, with late afternoons on Wednesdays and Thursdays the busiest stretch. The summit bench is best early, before the Queensland sun gets up over the ridge.
