Canterbury Gardens

Canterbury Gardens is a small, leafy stop on Canterbury Road, with a winding path, a little bridge and a raised garden rotunda. It is an on-lead stroll close to the shops.

Lead rules

The City of Boroondara treats the gardens as an on-lead area, so dogs stay leashed on the paths and lawns.

Council rules also keep dogs leashed within 10 metres of playgrounds and 30 metres of barbecues or picnic areas in use.

The walk

Concrete paths curve under mature deciduous trees, crossing the bridge and passing the rotunda. The canopy shades much of the lawn and parts of the path, and there are bins at the entries.

It is short and flat, so it suits older dogs or a quick daily leg stretch rather than a long outing.

Street parking is on Canterbury Road and the side streets. Autumn, when the deciduous trees turn, is the prettiest time to go.
