Cameron Park Wetlands Walk

The Cameron Park Wetlands Walk follows a gravel path through the community wetlands off Calancra Avenue. It is a quiet on-lead alternative to the suburb's busy sports ovals.

Lead rules

Dogs are welcome here on a lead. The wetlands sit within Lake Macquarie City Council's area.

The walk

The gravel and dirt path winds through wetland and native vegetation, with birdlife to watch along the way. The smells alone keep most dogs busy.

Some trees give patchy shade, but parts of the route are open to the sun on clear days.

Before you set out

There are few bins or dog water points along the trail itself, so pack water and carry your bags out. Most people park on the surrounding streets.

Make a day of it

Afterwards, pick up a coffee at Village Coffee Hub or Brewski Co.

It suits dogs that need a calm, low-key walk away from crowds. Go early in summer, before the exposed sections heat up.
