Buddina Beach Walk

Buddina Beach, on the Kawana stretch of the Sunshine Coast, runs between Point Cartwright and Coopers Lookout Park with coastal paths above the sand. Two parts of the beach are off-leash at all times, and the rest is on lead.

Leads and the off-lead areas

Sunshine Coast Council allows dogs off-leash on the beach between access points 198 and 201, near the Point Cartwright headland, and between 210 and 217, from Mawarra Avenue to Talinga Street. Connecting paths, parks, dunes and parts of Point Cartwright Reserve are on lead.

Council brought in new dog rules from 3 July 2026, so check the sign at your access point.

The walk

Concrete shared paths run through the coastal reserves, with sand on the beach below. Expect open ocean views, container ships heading out to sea, and rock pools at the headland.

Beach showers and taps sit at some access points, including 200, 205 and 210, and bins are at the main entries. Shade on the sand is limited.

Parking is plentiful along Pacific Boulevard, around Point Cartwright and at La Balsa Park.

Max: This beach is unpatrolled. Keep swims short and close to shore.

When to go

Early morning or late afternoon, when the sand is cool and the sun is lower. Active dogs that love a beach run get the most from it.
