Booragul to Eleebana Shared Pathway

Timber boardwalk over the water at Red Bluff is the highlight of the Booragul to Eleebana Shared Pathway, a sealed route that follows the shore of Lake Macquarie. Dogs are welcome on a lead, with off-lead parks close by.

Lead rules

Lake Macquarie City Council requires dogs to be on a lead along the shared path and the foreshores, and within 10 metres of any playground or barbecue.

For off-lead time, head to one of the council's dedicated dog areas near the path, such as those at Croudace Bay and Speers Point.

The walk

The path is fully sealed, mixing concrete with boardwalk sections, and works for wheelchairs, prams and bikes. It links Booragul, Speers Point, Warners Bay and Eleebana, past lakeside parks and cafe strips.

Max: Bikes share this path the whole way. Shorten the lead past the cafe strips and around the playgrounds.

Make a day of it

Finish with a run at Croudace Bay Dog Park, or try the Croudace Bay Small Fenced Dog Park for smaller or shyer dogs.

When to go

Early mornings are the calmest time on the lake. The flat, smooth surface suits older dogs.
