Blacksmiths Breakwall

Blacksmiths Breakwall sits at the Swansea Channel entrance in Blacksmiths, just across the water from Swansea. It is a flat, paved walk with big views, and dogs walk it on a lead, with an off-leash stretch of beach close by.

Leads and the off-lead area

Lake Macquarie City Council requires dogs on a lead on the breakwall path and in the surrounding open space. Further down Blacksmiths Beach there are designated off-leash zones, so save the running for the sand.

The walk

The path is flat concrete and easy going, so it works for most dogs and most people.

Looking out, you take in Blacksmiths Beach, the Swansea Channel and the far shore at Swansea Heads.

When to go

Being flat and paved, the breakwall suits older dogs and short legs. Dogs with energy to burn can finish with a run in the beach's off-leash zone, and a bottle of water for the dog is worth packing.
