Beree-Badalla Boardwalk

Mangroves, birdlife and the calm water of Currumbin Creek set the tone on the Beree-Badalla Boardwalk in Palm Beach. It is a flat, raised walk through the reserve, and dogs are welcome on a lead the whole way.

Lead rules

City of Gold Coast manages Beree-Badalla Reserve, and dogs must stay on a leash at all times on the boardwalk. Keep the lead short near the fishing platforms.

The walk

The boardwalk follows the northern bank of the creek through mangrove flats and wetland, with views across the water. It is level and easy underfoot.

That makes it a good pick for older dogs, or a quiet alternative to the surf beaches on a windy day.

Getting started

Park beside the bridge off Thrower Drive, near the boat ramp car park where the route begins. Bins sit near the entry and parking area.

Mangroves give patchy shade, but the open stretches catch full sun, and water points on the boardwalk itself are limited. Bring a bottle and bowl.

Max: Birds feed on the tidal flats right beside the boardwalk. Keep the lead short and your dog's attention on you when they are close.

Make a day of it

Rockview Public Park, where the creek meets the ocean, has an off-leash area for a run after the lead walk. For coffee, Roots And Culture Cafe is close by.

In summer, go early or late in the day, when the exposed sections are cooler.
