Caravan and Camping Woodgate sits at Walkers Point, the quieter southern end of the 16 kilometre Woodgate Beach, about 45 minutes from Bundaberg. It is a bush style camping and caravan park rather than a resort, and it takes dogs on application at the manager's discretion on a limited number of powered and unpowered sites.

Approval happens at booking, not on arrival, and the pet friendly terms and conditions need to be accepted as part of the reservation, so confirm your site is one of the pet approved ones before you drive out along Woodgate Road. Once you are in, the rules are straightforward: dogs stay on lead and supervised at all times, and they are not allowed inside the amenities blocks or the camp kitchen. There is no published size limit, but bring your own bowls and supplies because the park does not provide pet gear.

The campsite itself

The park has beach access from its edge, with the Burrum River mouth close by at Walkers Point.

Getting there and parking

The park is at 46 Bandicoot Road, near the end of Woodgate Road at Walkers Point, at the southern end of Woodgate Beach. You park on your own site and there is room to manoeuvre a caravan, which matters when you are juggling a dog, an annex and a fire pit in the same patch.

Close by with the dogs

Under Bundaberg Regional Council rules, the southern section of the Woodgate Beach foreshore, running down towards the Burrum River entrance, is a designated off leash zone, so a dog-approved site here puts you within walking distance of legal off lead beach time. Dogs are prohibited in the adjacent Burrum Coast National Park, so keep to the beach side.
