Burrum Heads Beachfront Tourist Park

Burrum Heads Beachfront Tourist Park sits on the edge of the Burrum River about thirty to forty minutes north of Hervey Bay, with a boat ramp, dump points and communal barbecues in a township better known for fishing and bird watching than crowds. It is also one of the more clearly structured dog-friendly parks on the Fraser Coast, with the dog rules built around which side of the park you book.

Dogs at the Burrum Heads Beachfront Tourist Park

Dogs are welcome only on the designated dog-friendly powered sites on the southern, non-riverfront side of the park, which are grassy sites with concrete pads for caravans, camper trailers and tents. A maximum of two dogs applies per booking. The premium riverfront sites on the northern side are pet-free, and cabins are not clearly listed as pet-friendly, so ask directly if that is your plan. Fees vary by season and site type; confirm the current pet rate when booking and ask for a dog-friendly southern site specifically.

Once you are in, dogs stay leashed whenever they are off your own site, cannot be left unattended, and are not allowed in the amenities block, camp kitchen or anywhere they could be washed on the grounds. Bring your own bowls and bedding; there are no on-site pet amenities.

Pepsi: the southern sites back straight onto the sandy river beach, so the leash comes off the site peg and the morning swim is ten steps away.

The vibe

This is a quiet, close-knit park where most guests are fishing off tinnies or walking the river, and reviews rate it highly at 4.4 across a couple of hundred stays. The dog-friendly side trades riverfront views for sandy river access and a relaxed atmosphere.

Getting there and parking

The park is on Howard Street in Burrum Heads, an easy drive in for big rigs, with parking at your site. The township shops are a short walk, and the river walk runs right off the back of the southern section.

While you're out there

Hillcrest Holiday Park is the other dog-friendly caravan base in the village, and Burrum Shores Beachfront Campground is a beachfront alternative on the same strip. For a cafe day, Hervey Bay is half an hour north, where Spotted Goat Kitchen is a popular stop with outdoor seating.
