Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park

Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park sits directly on the beachfront at the surf capital end of the Great Ocean Road, and it takes dogs seasonally on designated camp sites only. If your dates land inside the dog window, it is one of the few places you can fall asleep to the sound of the surf with the dog at your feet; outside that window, it is a no-dog park.

Dogs at the Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park

Dogs are permitted from 1 May to 31 October, with blackout periods that include the Melbourne Cup weekend and other notified dates. They are allowed only on the designated dog-friendly Surfside and Grove camp sites, which you must select explicitly when booking online, and never in cabins, glamping pods or other site types. Declare the dog at booking so you are placed in the right section. Confirm any current conditions with the park when you reserve, and if the online booking system will not show dog-friendly availability, the park takes calls on (03) 5261 2496.

Max: the window is the whole game here. May to October on a Surfside or Grove site, and if the calendar says otherwise the dog stays home.

The place

This is a large foreshore park with cabins, glamping pods, BBQ areas, a camp kitchen and a kids' play area, but the dog-friendly side is the camping and caravan sites. The draw is the position: the beach is at your doorstep and the Torquay foreshore paths run straight past. Sites cover up to four people as standard, and the park fills with winter surf-trip traffic, so book ahead.

Getting there

Torquay is about an hour and a half from Melbourne via the Princes Freeway and Surf Coast Highway. The park sits on the foreshore near the surf beaches, with parking at your site.

While you're out there

Jan Juc Dog Beach is just along the coast for a proper off-leash run, and 4 Pines X Boardriders has the dog-friendly patio for a post-beach pint. Bayaroma Cafe is the town coffee institution.
