Lumeah by the Creek

Lumeah by the Creek is a six-acre rural retreat on Terania Creek Road, about twenty-five to thirty minutes north of Lismore through The Channon. It is one of the most genuinely dog-friendly stays in the Northern Rivers: well-behaved dogs are allowed inside the homestead and cabins, and 450 metres of private creek frontage with natural swimming holes belongs entirely to you and your dog.

House-trained, well-behaved dogs are welcome across all of the accommodation: the modern homestead, the two luxury eco cabins (Acacia and Lilly Pilly) and the campsites. Dogs stay off the furniture, and when unfamiliar guests are on the property at the same time, leads go on. Major booking listings report no extra pet charge, but public FAQs do not list a fee, so confirm at booking. Bring your own dog bedding, bowls and food, since the property is private and remote and supplies are a drive away.

The place itself

The six acres hold expansive lawns, a fire pit, an outdoor bar and a five-person jacuzzi for the humans. The feel is unplugged and rustic in a comfortable way, and the property books out as a whole for groups, which is why dog clubs and training weekends use it regularly. That says more about how the hosts feel about dogs than any policy page could. Swim in the creek waterholes, walk the lawns, and expect quiet once the sun drops over the ridge.

Worth knowing

The Protesters Falls track entrance in Nightcap National Park is within walking distance, but dogs are not permitted on the trail inside the park boundary, so treat the falls as a solo hike while someone holds the fort with the dog. The Channon village has pet-friendly outdoor seating at its cafes, and Nimbin and Lismore are both short drives. In Lismore, the Elizabeth Gardens off-lead area covers proper off-lead exercise, and The Bank Cafe & Espresso makes a good town stop.
