The resident peacocks are a well-known feature of the grounds and a point of amusement for guests. The no-unattended-dogs rule is enforced firmly, so plan meals and day trips around a dog that comes with you - a leashed outing works far better than leaving them behind in the cabin.

Getting there and parking

The park is on Millennium Esplanade at Tannum Sands, about 25 minutes south of Gladstone. Powered and ensuite sites have room for a car alongside, and the beach path starts from the park itself, so the walk from your site to the sand is measured in minutes rather than drives.

Close by with the dogs

Second Beach, north of the main patrolled beach, has an off-leash stretch for a proper run, and PawScapes lists it as Tannum Sands Dog Beach. For coffee with the dog at your feet, Blend Cafe and Junction Cafe on Hampton Drive both welcome dogs at their outdoor tables. If the park is full, Boyne Island Caravan Park is the pet-friendly option one bridge away.
