Blend Cafe

Blend Cafe sits on the Hampton Drive strip at 2/95 Hampton Drive, Tannum Sands, a short run inland from the beach, and it is a proper dog-friendly stop: bring the dog to the outdoor tables and settle in for coffee and all-day breakfast. Weekday service starts at 4:30am, Saturday from 6am, and it closes Sundays.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the al fresco and footpath seating around the cafe, not indoors, which is standard for Queensland. Staff are known for being good with dogs and water bowls often appear, though a travel bowl is worth carrying anyway. Keep the dog leashed and close to the table, because the strip gets foot traffic through the morning.

The vibe

Relaxed and casual, with a following for the barista coffee, loaded shakes and the breakfast menu, bacon and egg muffins, eggs benny and all-day plates, plus a solid lunch list that runs to a brisket burger and Thai beef salad. It opens early enough to be the first stop after a dawn beach walk, which is exactly how most locals use it.

Pepsi: go before 8am on a weekend. The outdoor tables fill fast once the surf crowd arrives, and the shade disappears with them.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is on the Hampton Drive commercial strip, easy to reach by car from Gladstone or Boyne Island, with on-street and shop-side parking directly by the cafes.

Close by with the dogs

Tannum Sands Dog Beach is the natural pairing, an off-leash stretch of sand a few minutes away, and Second Beach offers more coastal walking. Junction cafe is the other dog-friendly option on the same strip if Blend is packed, and Discovery Parks - Tannum Sands takes pets for an overnight stay.
