The Langham Gold Coast

The Langham Gold Coast is a beachfront luxury hotel on the Gold Coast tourist strip, and it is unusual for its class in taking dogs seriously: an official Pampered Pets Staycation package runs through the hotel's own offers page, with a branded pet bed, bowls and a take-home gift for the dog included alongside the room. If you want a polished, high-rise base a few steps from the sand and are travelling with one dog, this is the closest thing on the central Gold Coast beachfront to a genuinely pet-forward five-star stay.

The package covers one dog of up to 20kg in designated pet-friendly rooms, excluding the Chairman's and Presidential suites and the three and four bedroom residences. A $220 per night pet fee is built into the package rate, and check-in also carries a $200 per night incidental bond plus a $500 pre-authorised security deposit, with a minimum $500 charge for any property damage. On the plus side, the package bundles an $80 daily food and beverage credit and valet parking for one vehicle. House rules are firm: dogs are not allowed in the hotel's restaurants, spa, pool areas or boutique, they must be leashed in permitted public areas, and they cannot be left unattended in the room at any time. Book the package in advance and confirm the room type qualifies before you pay.

The vibe

Guests single out the ocean views, the beachfront position and the pool setup, which spans indoor and outdoor pools including a magnesium pool, with a pool bar alongside. Because dogs are barred from the pool deck, plan your swimming and spa time around having the dog with you, or trade off with a travel companion. Rooms have balconies, which helps when the dog needs somewhere to settle.

Getting there and parking

The hotel fronts the central Gold Coast beachfront, with the esplanade and patrolled sand directly outside. Valet parking for one vehicle comes with the pet package, so driving up from Brisbane or down from the airport is straightforward; otherwise the G:link light rail runs the length of the coast with a stop within walking distance.

Close by with the dogs

Central swimming beaches are off limits to dogs, so head for the leash-free sand near The Spit: The Spit via Federation Trail is a short drive north with the off-leash zone along the water. Hedges Avenue Off Leash Dog Park at Broadbeach is the closest social run to the south.
