QT Gold Coast

QT Gold Coast is a beachfront design hotel at 7 Staghorn Avenue in the central Gold Coast strip, a short walk from the sand, and it takes dogs through its dedicated Pup Yeah! package. This is a proper pet program rather than a grudging allowance: appointed rooms, a dog dining menu and a local walk map all come with the booking.

Dogs at the QT Gold Coast

Dogs stay in specific Pup Yeah! rooms, strictly one per room, with a weight cap of around 20 to 25kg depending on the booking terms; larger dogs are only possible by prior arrangement, so call ahead. A $150 non-refundable cleaning fee is taken at booking, and stays beyond three nights add $40 per night. The package equips the room with a CUB orthopedic dog bed, stylish bowls, smith and burton grooming products, a bag of St Argo treats and a Strut Your Pup local pet map, and the in-room dog menu runs to items like steak tartare and bacon ice-cream. The rules: the dog must sleep on the provided bed, a human must be present in the room at all times, daily housekeeping enters for cleaning, a pet waiver is completed before check-in, and dogs are leashed or carried in permitted public areas but kept out of food and beverage outlets, the gym, pool and spa.

The place

It is a lively, design-led hotel with ocean-view rooms, a pool, the Stingray Bar and the Bazaar restaurant, right on the main beachfront strip. The G:link tram stops nearby, and while dogs are not the tram's core business, the beachfront esplanade walking is the real draw with a dog.

For off-leash time, The Spit Dog Beach at the northern end of Main Beach is the region's headline 24-hour off-leash beach, a short drive north. Hedges Avenue Off Leash Dog Park at Broadbeach is the closest fenced option south, and The Winey Cow at Main Beach covers the alfresco coffee run on the way back.
