Bundalee Cabins- Pistachio cabin

Pistachio at Bundalee Cabins is a self-contained cottage on the outskirts of Port Elliot on the Fleurieu Peninsula, and it is the dog-friendly one of the Bundalee pair. It faces north with a pergola and BBQ area, and the drawcard for dog owners is a small securely enclosed yard attached to the cabin.

Dogs at Pistachio

Dogs are welcome inside the cabin and can use the enclosed outdoor yard unsupervised, which is a rare setup in a coastal holiday town. The yard is compact and best suited to small dogs rather than large breeds who need room to run. Pets are taken at management's discretion, so mention your dog when you book and confirm the current conditions and any pet charge before you pay. Bring your own bowls and bedding, as the cabin is set up like a private cottage rather than a serviced property.

The vibe

Bundalee sits in semi-rural surroundings a couple of kilometres from the Port Elliot town centre, so it is quiet at night in a way the beachfront caravan parks are not. Horseshoe Bay, Knights Beach and the surf breaks around Middleton are all within a five to ten minute drive, and the Encounter Bikeway runs through town for on-lead coastal walking.

Getting there and parking

Port Elliot is just over an hour's drive south of Adelaide via the Southern Expressway and Main South Road. The cabins are signposted off the old Princes Highway, with off-street parking at the door. Victor Harbor is ten minutes further along the coast, and Goolwa and the river mouth are a similar distance west.

While you're out there

Port Elliot Fenced Dog Park is close by for a proper off-lead run, and the Middleton to Port Elliot bike trail makes an easy on-lead walk. De Groot Coffee Co is a solid morning stop in town. For other pet-friendly bases on this stretch of coast, BIG4 Port Elliot Holiday Park and Boat Haven Studios in Goolwa are nearby alternatives.
