Southern Surf Coffee Van

Southern Surf Coffee Van is a small outdoor coffee caravan tucked behind the Southern Surf shop at 36 North Terrace in Port Elliot, on the Fleurieu Peninsula south coast. It opens seven days from around 7am to early afternoon and is an easy, dog-friendly stop geared to surfers, locals and dog walkers.

The dog setup

The whole setup is outdoors, so dogs settle right in beside you at the casual seating. It is a well-known dog stop that will do a puppuccino, and water is easy to come by, though bringing your own bowl is smart on a hot morning.

Pepsi: this is a quick-stop kind of place. Get the coffee and toastie, find a spot on the sand, and keep moving to the beach rather than expecting a long sit-down brunch.

The vibe

Expect quality coffee, toasties and a few sweet treats, ordered and enjoyed at a relaxed pace. There are a few casual seats and a small sandpit for kids, and the calm, friendly morning vibe is the point rather than a full cafe fit-out.

Getting there

Free street parking runs along North Terrace and the side streets, and it is an easy walk or ride from the holiday parks and beach paths. Port Elliot is about an hour and 15 minutes south of Adelaide via the Southern Expressway.

While you're out there
