Billa Blue

Billa Blue is a three-bedroom beach house at 11 Billa Street in Point Lookout on North Stradbroke Island, usually booked as a whole property, and it is listed as pet-friendly, so your dog can join the island trip rather than sit it out at a kennel. It sleeps up to seven: a main bedroom with queen bed and ensuite, a second with a double, and a kids' bunk room, with two bathrooms and linen provided.

The house is advertised as pet-friendly and guests on Discover Stradbroke and Booking.com have stayed with dogs, but the public listing does not spell out size limits, breed rules or fees, so confirm all of that with the property manager before you book. The practical setup favours bringing a dog: the whole house is yours rather than shared corridors, there is a balcony with a BBQ, an outdoor shower for rinsing off sandy dogs after the beach, and two off-street parking spaces for the car you brought over on the ferry. Being a whole-house hire also means the usual whole-property conditions apply, so treat the policy as confirmed-at-booking rather than assumed.

Out and about with the dog

Cylinder Beach is about a twelve minute walk away, and under Redland City Council rules the Point Lookout swimming beaches, including Main Beach, Cylinder, Deadman's and Frenchman's, are on-lead for dogs. The off-lead option is Home Beach, the unpatrolled stretch back toward Dunwich, where dogs can run free. The North Gorge Walk is the signature walk from Point Lookout headland, and dogs are allowed on it on a lead at all times, with wildlife and nesting shorebirds the reason the leash rule is strict. Flinders Beach toward Amity Point allows dogs in permitted areas on a lead, but signed conservation and shorebird zones are off limits.
