Oceanview Manor by Peppy Beach Retreats

Oceanview Manor is one of the larger houses in the Peppy Beach Retreats stable at Peppermint Grove Beach, a quiet settlement on the Capel coast between Bunbury and Busselton. It is a multi-level house on Peppermint Grove Terrace, sometimes described as two homes in one, with ocean views from the upper floors and a sky deck up top. Dogs are welcome as standard, which is the norm across this small operator's portfolio.

Dogs at the Oceanview Manor

A flat pet fee of $80 per stay applies, covering your dog for the whole booking rather than per night. Cats are not permitted. Guests are expected to clean up after their pets and keep them off the furniture indoors. Exact limits on dog numbers and size are not published for this particular house, so confirm them with Peppy Beach Retreats when you book, especially if you are travelling with more than one dog.

The setup suits a beach holiday with a dog more than a lap-dog city break. The house sleeps a large group, with roughly four bedrooms across the two levels, and the enclosed yard means the dog has somewhere to settle while you are indoors.

The beach at your doorstep

Peppermint Grove Beach is managed by the Shire of Capel, and its dog rules are unusually generous. The stretch south of the Hardey Terrace carpark and the sand north of the Barndi Walk carpark are off-leash at all hours, all year. The central section between Hardey Terrace and Peppermint Grove Road goes on-leash between 9am and 5pm during the summer season from 1 November to 30 April, and a middle core section is on-leash at all times. Outside those hours and zones the sand is yours, and the beach is rarely crowded. Dogs must be under effective voice control off-leash, wear current registration tags, and you carry the bags.

Getting there and parking

The house is on Peppermint Grove Terrace, the settlement's main street, about 30 minutes' drive south of Bunbury and 35 minutes north of Busselton, just off the Bussell Highway. Driveway parking covers several cars, which matters when two families arrive separately.
