Palm Cove beach is directly across the road, and under Cairns Regional Council rules dogs can be off-leash on the sand between the Palm Cove jetty and the rocks to the north, provided they stay under effective control. South of the jetty and along the Esplanade it is on-leash. Williams Esplanade itself is the palm-lined promenade past the hotel, lined with cafes and restaurants that often take dogs in outdoor seating.

Worth knowing

Parking is at the rear off Amphora Street rather than out front, so use 24 Amphora Street if you are driving in. This is a hotel rather than a holiday house: good for one or two calmer dogs that settle in a room, less suited to a dog that needs a yard of its own. Rattle n Hum Palm Cove is the neighbourhood pub for a dog-friendly dinner.
