Kimo Estate

Kimo Estate is a 7,000 acre working farm at 1218 Nangus Road, about 15 minutes from Gundagai and just off the Hume Highway, running everything from off-grid Ecohuts to full country cottages. For dog owners the key fact is that pets are accepted by request only, and only in two of the property's stays: Windies Cottage and Daley's Cottage.

Dogs at Kimo Estate

Dogs are welcome in Windies Cottage, a cosy two bedroom country cottage, and Daley's Cottage, the larger three bedroom option that sleeps up to eight. They are explicitly not permitted in the Ecohuts, the Shearers Quarters or Flash Jacks of Gundagai, so a dog-friendly weekend here depends entirely on cottage availability. Request approval in advance rather than assuming it comes with a booking; guests are responsible for any damage, and a cleaning fee can apply if a pet is found in an unauthorised area or leaves an excessive mess. No dog amenities are supplied, so pack your own bedding, bowls and food.

Pepsi: keep the lead handy the whole time you are out of the cottage yard. This is a working sheep and cattle property and the livestock do not appreciate visitors.

The vibe

The property trades on panoramic rural views, a relaxed off-grid feel and genuine farm atmosphere, with sheep and native wildlife across the hills. Fireplaces and outdoor baths feature in the stays, and a large renovated shed hosts weddings on the property. Quiet country roads around the farm suit a leashed morning walk.

Getting there

Access is via sealed roads off the Hume Highway, about 15 minutes from Gundagai, with free parking at each accommodation site. The Murrumbidgee River has scenic spots nearby, though dogs should stay secured given the livestock.

While you're out there

For a proper off-leash session you will need to drive to Wagga Wagga: Narrung Street Fenced Dog Park and Chaston Pet Hub are the standout fenced options about 40 minutes west. If you are stopping in Wagga, Carlo's Wagga Wagga is a dog-friendly coffee stop.
