The pet-friendly outdoor space gives the dog somewhere to settle while you use the BBQ, though the property does not publish whether that outdoor area is fully fenced, so ask the owners directly before you book if your dog needs containment. Confirm any house rules about dogs on furniture at the same time.

This is a private apartment rather than a resort, so there are no park grounds to roam; the walking is what you make of the neighbourhood. Reviews are limited to a handful of stays, which is normal for a small owner-run property, but it means you should confirm check-in details and the pet arrangements with the owners rather than relying on third-party listings.

Getting there and parking

Aqueduct Avenue runs off the residential streets south of the Mount Evelyn township, roughly an hour east of Melbourne. Off-street parking is at the door, and Lilydale with its train station and supermarket strip is about 10 minutes away.

Close by with the dogs

The Mount Evelyn Aqueduct Trail Reserve off West Hill Drive has a designated off-leash section, about 400 metres of gravel path through bush starting from the West Hill Drive end, and it is close to the apartment. The Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail passes through Mount Evelyn but is on-lead only, as it is shared with cyclists. For coffee, Paperbark Cafe is the local option, and the Lilydale Lake East dog off-leash area is a short drive for a bigger run.
