Bundjil Studio

Bundjil Studio is a self-contained, rammed-earth studio apartment at 18 Juliet Avenue on the bush edge of Healesville, set on 3.5 acres of native bushland a few minutes by car from the town centre. It takes one dog by prior arrangement, and it suits a couple after a quiet, private Yarra Valley base with the dog rather than a busy family base.

Dogs at the Bundjil Studio

One dog is permitted per stay, subject to owner approval, so flag the dog when you first contact the hosts rather than turning up with one. Two conditions apply: the dog must be vaccinated and have had flea treatment, and an extra fee of 50 dollars applies per stay. Pets are permitted in the studio apartment itself. Have the vaccination and flea-treatment details ready when you book, since they are a condition of the stay, and confirm the current terms directly, as they are set by the owners rather than a booking platform.

The place

The studio is a sustainable rammed-earth build with its own private entrance, an outdoor deck with BBQ facilities and a fire pit area, set among native bush. Guests rate it highly for the cosy atmosphere and the clean, well-equipped setup. It is secluded without being remote: Healesville's main street, cafes and nearby cellar doors are all minutes away by car. Because the setting is natural bush rather than a fenced suburban yard, check with the hosts how the outdoor space is contained if your dog is inclined to wander.

The Healesville Showgrounds Dog Off Leash Area is the local spot for a proper off-lead run. In town, Cherry Tree Cafe takes dogs at outdoor tables on the highway.
