Harvey Caravan Park

Harvey Caravan Park is a small, shady park at 199 Kennedy Street right in the town of Harvey, an hour or so south of Perth on the way to the South West. It is a quiet, tree-lined stopover for caravanners rather than a resort park, and dogs are part of the regular crowd here.

Dogs at Harvey Caravan Park

Dogs are welcome on the powered sites, with caravans and tents, and the mature trees make it easy to set up a shaded spot for a dog on a hot day. Keep dogs on a lead around the park and clean up after them, the usual courtesy with shared amenities and other guests. Whether dogs are allowed inside the on-site cabins is less clear and appears to vary, and management approves pets case by case, so call the park on (08) 9729 2239 or email [email protected] before you book if you are not bringing your own van.

The park

Facilities cover a covered camp kitchen, an amenities block with hot showers, a laundry and some on-site vans. There are big-rig friendly sites with flat, easy access for caravans and motorhomes, and parking is at each site. The position is the practical part: the park sits within walking distance of Harvey's town centre, including the butcher and Harvey Cheese, so restocking is a short stroll rather than a drive.

Walks from the gate

The Noongar Kaartdijin Bidee walk runs along the Harvey River close by, a flat, shaded interpretive stroll past Noongar art and the Stirling Cottage gardens, all on lead. The longer Harvey Heritage Trail loops about six and a half kilometres through town and along the riverbanks. The Shire of Harvey has also opened a fenced off-lead dog park with secure fencing and a dog drinking fountain, a short drive from the caravan park.
