Snell's Park

Snell's Park is a heritage garden in the middle of Harvey, on Hayward Street in the old railway station precinct. It is a short, gentle on-lead wander rather than a workout, and it looks its best when the roses and flower beds are out.

Lead rules

The Shire of Harvey requires dogs on a lead in public parks like this one. Snell's Park is not a designated off-lead area, so the lead stays on for the whole visit.

What you'll see

Concrete paths run between manicured lawns, old roses and bright garden beds, with the historic CWA building among the heritage buildings around the gardens. Old trees shade much of the grass, which helps on a warm afternoon.

Accessible parking is right beside the park. Bring water for the dog.

Pair it with

For an off-lead run afterwards, the Shire's fenced Harvey dog exercise area has a drinking fountain with a built-in dog bowl. Meriden Park, on the corner of Uduc Road and Hinge Road, has an off-lead area south of Hinge Road whenever organised sport is not on.

When to go

A calm weekday keeps the gardens quiet enough for nervous or older dogs. It suits a leg stretch on a drive through town more than a long walk.
