EPIC Caravan Park

EPIC Caravan Park is the camping ground inside the Exhibition Park in Canberra showgrounds on Flemington Road, and one of the few places to camp with a dog this close to the city centre. It is a sites-only park: powered and unpowered grassed sites for vans, motorhomes and tents, with no cabins.

Friendly, well-mannered dogs are welcome on the designated campsites, per the park's campground rules and VisitCanberra's listing. Pets are restricted to the camping and caravanning areas, stay out of permanent buildings, and management asks you to discuss your dog before arrival, particularly in peak event season.

The published rates put powered sites at $40 a night and unpowered sites at $35 a night for two people, plus $5 for each extra person aged five and over. Bookings go through the EPIC office in advance by phone or email rather than walk-in.

Max: EPIC hosts dog shows and major exhibitions through the year, so the campground can close or fill around the event calendar. Check the dates before you lock in, especially on Royal Canberra Show weekend.

The vibe

This is a working showground campground rather than a resort: showers, toilets and laundry, large flat grassed sites, and light rail at the gate for the run into Civic. It tends to be quiet between events and busy when the showgrounds are in use.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on the Exhibition Park site off Flemington Road on the Gungahlin side of Mitchell, with the light rail stop at the entrance. You park at your site, which is the point of a van-based stay.

Make a day of it

The flat Yerrabi Pond Loop is a short drive north for an easy on-lead exercise session, and Caffè al Lago pours dog-tolerant coffee by the water.
