Wagonga Coffee Culture

Wagonga Coffee Culture is a boutique coffee roaster working out of Mitchell's industrial estate in Canberra's north, and the reason to bring your dog along is the coffee itself. This is small-batch roasting done seriously, with the beans roasted on site, and locals rate it among the best in the area.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the small outdoor seating area, but the indoor space is a working roasting facility where pets are not permitted, so keep your dog close while you order. Staff are generally happy to fetch water if asked, though bowls are not guaranteed, so a portable bowl in the car is the safe bet. The outdoor area is compact, so a settled dog is essential.

Worth knowing

Beyond the espresso, there is a concise food menu built on fresh, locally sourced brunch items: bacon and egg rolls, pies, muffins and sandwiches, with a pleasant barista behind the machine. The beans themselves are fair trade and small-batch roasted every week, and bags of the organic blend and single origins such as Ethiopian Yirgacheffe are on sale for take-home, with free delivery across Canberra on orders over $65. Hours are strictly weekday, 6am to 2pm Monday to Friday, with weekends closed, although the team pops up at the Canberra Region Farmer's Markets at EPIC each Saturday, 7am to 11:30am, serving a different coffee each week.

Getting there and parking

The roastery sits in the Mitchell industrial estate, quick to reach from the Gungahlin side of Canberra, with street parking out front so you can keep the car close on a hot or cold morning.

Close by with the dogs

For an off-lead run before or after coffee, Franklin Dog Park is the nearest dedicated space, a short drive towards the Gungahlin town centre.
