For a proper walk, Lake Wendouree is about a ten-minute drive and has a flat, fully paved 6km loop (on-leash). Victoria Park, on the western side of Ballarat, has large open areas dogs can run in off-leash. Ballarat Botanical Gardens allows dogs on-leash around the perimeter and surrounding parkland, though not in the formal garden beds.

Who it suits. Good for caravan, camper trailer and tent travellers happy to have their dog on the site rather than in a cabin. Less suited to anyone wanting a pet-friendly cabin stay, since dogs aren't permitted in built accommodation here.
