Gladstone Showground RV Campsite

The Gladstone Showground RV Campsite is a budget camping ground on the showgrounds on Tank Street, right in Gladstone Central. It is set up for self-driven travellers rather than tents, takes dogs in the camping area, and costs a fraction of a commercial caravan park, which is why it keeps turning up as the practical stopover for the Bruce Highway run through Gladstone.

Dogs at the campsite

Dogs are permitted within the RV and caravan camping areas, but only on a lead or tether, with owners picking up and removing waste. There is no published size limit. The showground is a working venue, so grounds and event bookings can affect access, and policies sit with the caretaker on site; check current rates and dog rules when you book or on arrival rather than assuming last trip's terms still apply. Tent camping is generally not what this site is for.

The campground

Sites are flat and spacious, with powered and unpowered options, and travellers consistently call out the friendly caretaker and the clean amenities in reviews. Expect basic toilets and hot showers, a dump point, and water access on powered sites. Rates have run roughly $20 to $25 a night for unpowered sites and about $25 to $30 powered, and stays are short-term, around seven days or by arrangement. Because it is on the showground reserve in town, everything is close: supermarkets, shops and clubs are within walking distance of the gate.

Getting there and out with the dog

Tank Street puts you a couple of minutes from the Gladstone CBD and the marina side of town. For proper exercise, the Webb Park Fenced Dog Park in West Gladstone gives the dog secure off-lead time after a travel day, and the Tannum Sands Dog Beach is the closest off-lead swim, about half an hour south. If the showground is booked for an event, the Kin Kora Village Caravan & Residential Park is the fallback pet-friendly park, and The Cotton Mill Gladstone is a central coffee stop.
