Western Plains Tourist Park Dubbo

Western Plains Tourist Park is a budget caravan and cabin park in central Dubbo that takes dogs on sites and in selected cabins, which makes it a straightforward overnight for travellers crossing NSW on the Newell Highway with a dog in the car. The park sits at 1-11 Bultje Street, in the city centre within walking distance of Coles, Myer and the Old Dubbo Gaol.

Dogs are welcome on designated camping and caravan sites, and specific pet-friendly cabins take them too. Register your pet when you book and confirm a pet cabin is actually available rather than assuming, because only certain cabins take dogs, and booking platforms note possible cleaning surcharges on some cabin tiers even though sites are listed at no extra charge. The park rules are the standard ones: leashed at all times outside your site or cabin, kept out of the shared amenities and communal buildings, cleaned up after, and not left barking unattended.

The park itself

This is a practical stopover, not a resort: powered sites with easy access for large motorhomes and buses, potable water points and a dump point. The trade-off for the location is that you are in town, so it is a walk to dinner and a short drive to the zoo, though note dogs cannot enter Taronga Western Plains Zoo itself, so plan kennel-free days around the other attractions.

For a proper run, South Dubbo Park Fenced Dog Park is fully enclosed with agility equipment and a self-watering dish, and Tracker Riley Cycleway loops the Macquarie River for an on-lead walk.
