Coominya Farm Stay

Coominya Farm Stay is a rural camping and caravan property on the edge of the Somerset Region that takes dogs on its powered and unpowered sites. There are no cabins or glamping tents here, just flat grassy blocks with room to spread out, a few secluded bush spots for privacy, and space for big rigs. The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail runs straight past the property, so you can be walking it within a minute of stepping out of your van.

Dogs at the farm stay

Dogs are welcome on the pet-friendly sites, with one firm condition: keep them on a lead at all times. This is a working farm with livestock around, so a solid lead and close supervision are not optional. The facility list covers the basics well, with toilets, hot showers, a camp kitchen, potable water and power hookups, which suits self-contained setups with a dog in tow. Pet fees and number limits are not published, so call the farm before booking to confirm the current rules, especially if you are travelling with more than one dog.

Max: this is livestock country, so the lead stays on even when the paddocks look empty. You will also share the rail trail with horses, so have your dog under control before they round the bend.

The sites

Expect wide, level grass rather than defined caravan park slabs, and a quiet rural feel instead of holiday park activity. That suits dogs who are happy to chill at the site or amble along the rail trail on lead. Book ahead for the bush spots if privacy matters to you, and double-check access if you are towing something large.

Getting there

The property sits at 18 Bellwards Road, under three kilometres from Coominya township with its pub, shops and fuel. Somerset Dam is a short drive north for boating and fishing, and Esk and Toogoolawah are handy for cafes, bakeries and markets. Bring what you need for the site itself, since there is no kiosk on the property.

While you're out there
