Laidley Off-Leash Dog Park

Laidley Off-Leash Dog Park is a fully fenced, council-designated off-leash area inside the Laidley Recreation Reserve on Ambrose Street. The double-gated entry, water and shade make it a genuinely practical stop for Lockyer Valley locals and for travellers pushing through on the Warrego Highway.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced with a double gate, so arrivals and departures stay secure. It is one open field rather than separate small and large dog sections, with seating, shaded spots, a drinking water station for dogs and humans, and waste bag dispensers with bins. Free parking sits nearby, just behind the main recreation building on the reserve grounds.

Leash status

Inside the fence, dogs are off-leash but must stay under effective control, and owners are required to remain in the park and supervise closely. Lockyer Valley Regional Council's conditions of use are explicit: only currently registered dogs may enter, females in season are not permitted, and dogs declared dangerous or menacing are prohibited from council off-leash areas at all times. Any dog showing aggression needs to be leashed and taken out straight away.

Max: the water station covers most trips, but in summer the shade thins out by mid morning. Early is better, and the drive from Ipswich is only about forty minutes.

Getting there and parking

The park sits within the Laidley Recreation Reserve, Ambrose Street, Laidley QLD 4341. From Brisbane, allow roughly an hour and fifteen minutes via the M2 and Warrego Highway; from Ipswich it is about forty minutes. The reserve's sports grounds surround the dog park, so follow the signage rather than the first car park you find.

Worth knowing

Shade is available but limited in the peak of the day, so plan summer visits for early morning or late afternoon. Being an open single enclosure, the park works best when it is quiet or with well-matched playmates, which is more common on weekday mornings than weekend afternoons.
