Christies Beach Tourist Park

Christies Beach Tourist Park is a caravan and camping park at 39 Sydney Crescent in Christies Beach, on Adelaide's southern coast about 35 minutes from the CBD, with the sand a short walk from the gate. Dogs are welcome year-round on the sites, which makes this one of the more practical beachfront bases south of the city for van and tent travellers.

Dogs at the park

The park publishes its rules plainly. Pets go on powered and camping sites only, never in the cabins, with a maximum of two dogs per site. Leads are capped at two metres at all times inside the park, dogs must be supervised and never left unattended, whether tied up outside or left in a van or annexe, and mess is cleaned up immediately. Bringing a dog is subject to the manager's approval at check-in, so clear it when you book rather than hoping on arrival. No size limit is published and any pet fee is best confirmed with reception.

The setup

Grassed sites, a camp kitchen and clean amenities are the recurring positives in reviews, and parts of the park look out over the ocean. Cabins exist for the people-only traveller. The real draw is location: the Christies Beach foreshore and its coastal walking path start at the end of the street, with the Fleurieu coast stretching south from there.

Close by with the dogs

For proper off-lead time, the Seaford (Keast Park) Off-Leash Dog Beach is a few minutes north, and FLAVA Cafe is the local dog-friendly coffee stop.
