Barilla Holiday Park

Barilla Holiday Park sits on Richmond Road in Cambridge, about five minutes from Hobart Airport and fifteen from the city. It is a family run, bushland style park with powered and unpowered sites, self contained cabins, a camp kitchen, mini golf and a pool, and it is one of the few bases this close to the airport where a dog can possibly stay with you.

Dogs at the Barilla Holiday Park

Dogs are not part of the standard booking here. The park's booking terms allow dogs only with prior approval from management, so call or email before you reserve and get the ok in writing. Approval typically applies to sites rather than cabins: cabins are not pet friendly, and the terms are clear that guests caught concealing an unapproved animal can be asked to leave.

Once approved, the usual rules apply. Dogs stay leashed and under control around the park, they are not to be left unattended in your van, tent or car, and you clean up after them straight away. The camp kitchen, pool and amenities blocks are people only zones, so plan around your own site and the paths between.

The vibe

Sites are separated by privacy hedges and set among gum trees, which buys you shade and a bit of space, and the artificial grass on some van sites is easy to keep clean and free of burrs. Timed hot showers, an on site Thai restaurant and a spa cover the human side of the deal.

Getting there and parking

Turn off the Tasman Highway onto Richmond Road and the park appears on the way out to Richmond, with off street parking at your site. Hobart is about fifteen minutes, historic Richmond about twelve, and Seven Mile Beach roughly the same again for a long beach walk where dogs are allowed in designated sections.

Close by with the dogs
