Crystalbrook Collection is the hotel group behind several Cairns properties, but only one of them takes dogs: Crystalbrook Bailey in the CBD. If you are travelling with a dog and booking under the Crystalbrook name, Bailey and its Residential Paws package is the property to ask for.

The pet policy. Dog-friendly stays are at Crystalbrook Bailey only, in selected first-floor Residences. The rules there are one dog per residence, a 20kg weight limit, and a $95-per-stay pet fee. The package includes a food and water bowl for the stay and a welcome treat. The group's other Cairns hotels are not set up for dogs, so confirm you are booking Bailey specifically.

House rules. Dogs must be leashed in public areas and cannot be left alone in the room. They are kept out of the restaurants, gym and pool. Book the dog package in advance and check availability before you commit, since pet rooms are limited.

The place. Bailey is a five-star, art-filled hotel in central Cairns, walking distance to the Esplanade, restaurants and shopping, which is the practical appeal of basing yourself here with a dog.

Getting there and parking. Bailey is at 163 Abbott St, Cairns City, with on-site valet parking and entrance drop-off for luggage and the dog.

Nearby with the dogs. The Cairns Esplanade is a short on-lead walk away, and the CBD has plenty of cafes with dog-friendly outdoor seating.

Before you book. Contact the property to confirm a pet-friendly Residence for your dates. Best for small-to-medium dogs that are settled in a luxury city-hotel setting.
