Red Devils Camping

Red Devils Camping is a basic, low-cost campground on the Red Devil Park rugby league grounds on Bangalow Road, a couple of kilometres south of central Byron Bay. It is one of the few places in Byron itself that genuinely takes dogs, and one of the cheapest beds in town, which makes it a practical base for self-sufficient travellers with a dog in the back of the ute.

Dogs are permitted in the camping areas, and no separate pet fee is widely listed, with standard camping rates applying. The catch is that this is an open sports field, not a fenced pet area: keep your dog leashed and close to your site, especially when the grounds are in use for training or matches. Sites are large and grassy, and parking is on the grass beside your setup.

Worth knowing

Facilities are basic: toilets, showers housed in the club's change rooms, drinking water and a shared camp kitchen. Rates run around budget level for the area, but this is an informal setup, so confirm the current nightly rate and any pet conditions when you book or arrive. Fires are not permitted. Expect backpackers and footy traffic rather than a quiet bush retreat.

Getting there and parking

The ground sits on Bangalow Road with easy highway access, roughly a five-minute drive from the Byron Bay town centre. You park directly at your site on the grass.
