Clem & Tines Vintage Beach House

Clem & Tines Vintage Beach House is a 1960s estate in Binningup, on Western Australia's coast roughly ninety minutes south of Perth, split into a two-storey house, a studio and a cottage that together sleep up to fourteen. It is a group and multi-generation property, not a couple's weekend, and it takes up to two dogs for the whole booking.

Dogs at the estate

Two dogs are welcome for a fee of $100 per pet. The rules are clear: dogs are not to be left alone at the property, which protects both the dog and the neighbours' quiet, and they stay out of the bedrooms. One honest caveat from the owners themselves: the grounds are landscaped but the fencing is not guaranteed to be fully dog proof, so walk the boundary when you arrive and supervise a dog with wandering form. The shaded verandas are the easy outdoor spot for a dog, and the big garden, with fruit trees, grape vines and lawn, gives plenty of room between beach trips. Bring your own bed and bowls; no dog gear is supplied.

Pepsi: a garden this size with fruit trees and lawn is a proper sniff around before or after the beach, better than pacing a small courtyard.

The house itself

The decor mixes vintage coastal and French provincial, with high ceilings and jarrah floorboards, and the covered alfresco area is built around a four-metre table for big shared meals. Practical details matter at this scale: three washing machines and two dryers handle a week of beach towels and a muddy dog, and there is on-site parking for guests at 24 Kylie Terrace.

Beach and surrounds

Binningup Beach is an easy stroll from the house, and the Shire of Harvey designates dog exercise zones along the coast, so check the shire's map for the off-lead stretch before you let a lead clip off. The Ferguson Valley wine country is close enough for a day trip, though you will want to confirm each cellar door's dog policy before you go.
