BIG4 Howard Springs Holiday Park is a big tropical caravan park about 25 to 30 minutes from Darwin CBD, with three resort-style pools, a kids' water park and plenty of shaded grass. It takes dogs, but only on caravan and camping sites, not in the cabins.

Pools, the camp kitchen, amenities blocks and reception are dog-free zones, and waste needs picking up straight away into the provided bins.

Location and nearby. The park sits in a quiet rural pocket of Howard Springs, reached via the Stuart Highway and Howard Springs Road, but it is still an easy run into Darwin or Palmerston. Howard Springs Nature Park is close by for an on-leash walk, and the Howard Springs Tavern will seat a well-behaved dog in its outdoor beer garden.

Who it suits. Caravan and camping travellers after a family-style park with real facilities, rather than anyone hoping to bring a dog into a cabin.
