The Inn Beechworth

The Inn Beechworth is luxury heritage accommodation made up of three self-contained cottages at 56 High Street, in the middle of town, and it is one of the more genuinely dog-welcoming options in the North East: dogs stay inside the cottages with you rather than being shown to a yard.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome across the three stays, but the right fit depends on size: Kelly House and Pickett's Cottage suit larger dogs, while Ned's, the cosy studio, is only suitable for very small dogs. A secure yard gives dogs a safe space between walks. The public listings do not state a fixed pet fee, so confirm any fee and the house rules, including furniture access, when you book.

The vibe

The cottages blend period character with modern comforts, and being central means the main street and its cafes are less than a five-minute walk. Bring your own bowls, bedding and treats unless the host confirms otherwise. The surrounding historic streets are pleasant for an evening loop, and the longer Gorge and Lake Sambell walks start a short distance away.

Max: match the cottage to the dog at booking, not on arrival. Ned's is a studio, and a big dog in it is a squeeze for everyone.

Getting there and parking

The Inn sits on High Street in central Beechworth, around three hours' drive from Melbourne, with off-street parking at the properties. Everything in town is walkable from the front gate, including the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail access.

While you're out there

Coffee Staines and tiny of beechworth cover the morning coffee run with dogs at the outdoor tables. If you would rather a park-style base, Beechworth Lake Sambell Caravan Park and Beechworth Holiday Park both take dogs on sites and in selected cabins.
