Petrichor Estate is a three-bedroom luxury house on its own 55 acres at Bald Knob, on the crest of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland with 360-degree views over the Hinterland and the Glasshouse Mountains. There is a heated magnesium pool and spa, a fire pit, and the reviewer topics read like a who's who of a good country stay: sunset views, friendly cows, welcoming host. It takes dogs, but access is by pre-approval only and the property is 4WD-access, so plan the booking rather than wing it.

Dogs are welcome strictly upon prior application and pre-approval before you finalise the booking, capped at two dogs, with small-to-medium non-shedding dogs preferred. A pet fee of about $100 per dog covers the extra cleaning. Cats are not accepted. Once on site, dogs need supervising: the 55 acres run alongside grazing cattle and local wildlife, so containment matters more here than at a suburban rental. If your dog is a wanderer or shaky on recall, ask the host about the fencing and gates before you arrive.

Worth knowing

The estate is pitched at adults and couples rather than families, with the listing noting it is not set up for young children, and quiet hours and neighbour-respect guidelines apply. That makes it a fit for a quiet, self-contained escape with a well-behaved dog, not a last-minute group booking. The isolation is the point: sunrise and sunset from the house, and the nearest towns a drive away.
