The Barrel @ Clouds Vineyard Maleny

The Barrel @ Clouds Vineyard is a giant barrel-shaped tasting room and kitchen at 787 Landsborough Maleny Road, Bald Knob, set in a vineyard with a big grassed lawn running around it. Dogs are welcome on lead across the outdoor seating and the lawn, which makes this an easy Sunshine Coast hinterland stop with a dog in tow.

The dog setup

Keep your dog on lead at all times. There is plenty of space under and around the outdoor tables, concrete paths make access easy with a dog or a pram, and water bowls are usually out in the shaded areas. Bring a backup on a hot day, because the mountain sun is strong even when the lawn looks cool.

The vibe

The draw is local tasting flights: Sunshine Coast Hinterland wines by the flight, plus craft beer and cider paddles. The kitchen keeps it casual with grazing platters, burgers and a Thai beef salad that regulars order, and there is live music on selected days. It is relaxed and family friendly, with vineyard views doing the rest. Hours matter here: the venue trades Friday to Monday from 10am to 4pm, with the kitchen closing at 3:30pm, so do not plan a midweek visit.

Getting there and parking

The venue sits on the main road between Landsborough and Maleny, with ample on-site parking right at the barrel, so access is straightforward by car.

Close by with the dogs

Gardners Falls is a short drive away and a popular on-leash creek walk. In Maleny itself, the Maleny Trail makes an easy leashed loop, and the off-leash area at the Maleny Showground gives dogs a proper run under showground rules. The Maleny guide pulls the rest of the mountain together.
