Atkinsons Edgewater

Atkinsons Edgewater is a 25-acre bushland campground on the waterfront at Atkinson Dam, an easy drive from Brisbane off the Brisbane Valley Highway. It is set up for boating, fishing and campfire weekends, and dogs are welcome across the property.

Dogs at Atkinsons Edgewater

There are no cabins here, only powered and unpowered camping and caravan sites, so every stay is dog-eligible by default and your dog can camp right at your site. Dogs must be kept on a lead and supervised at all times, partly because there are farm animals on the property.

Pet terms are not separately published, so confirm any pet arrangements and current fees on the Hipcamp listing when you book. Bring your own dog bowls, food and drinking water, because the on-site store only covers basics.

Pepsi: the waterfront sites back straight onto the lake, so you get the view without leaving your dog's lead radius. Just remember the dam water itself is off-limits to dogs under Seqwater's rules.

Worth knowing

The park has more than fifty absolute waterfront sites, a boat ramp, a small cafe and convenience store, fire drums for campfires and an undercover pool. Dogs are not permitted in the pool area, and pet bedding cannot be washed in the park laundry.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on Atkinson Dam itself off the Brisbane Valley Highway, roughly an hour from Brisbane and close to the Lockyer Valley. You park at your site, so there is no separate day-visitor parking to worry about.

While you're out there

Lakeside tracks along the water's edge suit a leashed morning walk, though Seqwater's rules for the wider recreation area keep dogs on lead in the day-use areas and off the foreshore and boat ramp. The dog-friendly Atkinson Dam Holiday Park sits in the same suburb if Edgewater is booked out.
