The Beach Arrawarra

The Beach Arrawarra is a laid-back campground and cabin retreat at 46 Arrawarra Beach Road, about thirty minutes north of Coffs Harbour, sharing its grounds with the Mojosurf Spot X surf camp. The defining feature for dog owners is the setting: it is one of the few campgrounds in New South Wales sitting directly on the sand, so the day starts and ends with a walk on Arrawarra Beach itself.

Dogs at the Beach

Dogs are welcome on camping and caravan sites but are not permitted inside the cabins, so book a site rather than a room if you are bringing one. Pets need to be cleared with management in advance, kept secure on a lead at your site, and you should bring your own bedding, food and water bowls rather than expect them supplied. Some booking platforms list no extra pet charge, but confirm fees and conditions with the park directly at the time of booking, as they can change. Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pets and for any damage.

The place

Expect a no-frills coastal camp: absolute waterfront cabins, tipi glamping tents, powered and unpowered sites, and multi-share dorms that give the place a backpacker energy alongside families in the cabins. A campfire-and-community vibe runs through the grounds, and having a surf school on site means board hire and learn-to-surf lessons are literally next door. The beach is patrolled in peak summer, and the camp sits within the Solitary Islands Marine Park region. Getting there and out with the dog

Turn off the Pacific Highway at Arrawarra and follow Arrawarra Beach Road to the end. Note that under City of Coffs Harbour rules, Arrawarra Beach itself is strictly on-leash for dogs, with waste to be picked up. For an off-lead run, Corindi Beach south of Ocean Street is designated off-leash just to the north, and the Coffs Harbour dog off-lead beach is the drive-south option. Woolgoolga has the nearest town services: Bluebottles Brasserie for dinner and Cowboys Coffee at the headland for the morning brew.

Worth knowing
