RAC Busselton Holiday Park

RAC Busselton Holiday Park sits on 8 hectares of natural bushland on Caves Road in Abbey, about 300 metres from Geographe Bay and a short walk from Abbey Beach. It is a big, family-scale park with two resort-style pools, a games room, mini golf, a BMX track, a bouncing pillow and a camp kitchen, and it is well placed between Busselton and Dunsborough for touring the South West. For dog owners the deal is specific: dogs are welcome, but on designated sites only and under lead for the whole stay.

Pets are permitted only on designated pet-friendly powered and unpowered caravan and camping sites, approved at the time of booking, with a maximum of two pets per site and final discretion resting with the manager. Pets are not permitted on ensuite powered sites or anywhere near cabins and villas, and none of the shared facilities, pools, camp kitchen or amenities are pet areas. Dogs must be on a lead at all times outside your own site boundaries, and there are no off-leash areas inside the park. They cannot be left unattended, including inside a caravan, tent or vehicle, and constant barking that affects other guests can end a stay. A pet fee or bond is arranged at booking, so ask for the amount when you reserve. Book the pet-friendly site specifically rather than a standard site and assume a dog turns a standard booking into a refusal at the gate.

Beaches and walks nearby

Abbey Beach is the short walk north over the dunes, and the Geographe Bay foreshore here is genuinely dog-friendly: the City of Busselton allows dogs off leash year round on the stretch near the Abbey Road boat ramp through to the Harnett Street car park, with seasonal daytime restrictions between 9am and 5pm from 1 December to the end of February. Transiting the access paths and carparks is on lead. The bay's flat, calm water suits dogs that like a paddle more than surf, and the coastal path south toward Busselton is an on-lead walk if you want distance. Burger Bones in Busselton is the casual, dog-welcoming feed stop on the way through town, and Busselton Villas and Glamping Village is the other pet-friendly stay option in the shire if the park is full.
