Lady Vandeburg

Lady Vandeburg is a women-owned, American-style burger bar at 188 Timor Street in the Warrnambool CBD, all black-and-gold fit-out, neon and handcrafted burgers. For dog owners the draw is the street-side outdoor seating, where dogs are welcome while you work through the shakes list.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area, which opens off the street, not inside the main room. The outdoor space is compact, so if you are bringing a larger dog it is worth ringing ahead on (03) 4149 1525 to confirm a suitable table is free. Bring your own water bowl; none are set out as standard.

Worth knowing

The burgers are the headline, handcrafted and built on premium ingredients, with the Chicken Vandeburger the signature and a solid run of gluten-free and vegetarian options. Sides run to the famous donut fries and loaded fries, the thickshakes and desserts cover the sweet end, and there is a full cocktail, craft beer and wine list. Trading runs from 11am daily, to 9:30pm Monday and Tuesday, 10pm midweek and 10:30pm Friday and Saturday.

Getting there and parking

The address is 188 Timor Street, in the middle of the Warrnambool CBD. On-street parking runs along Timor Street with more in the side streets, and the block is walkable from most of the town centre.

Close by with the dogs

The foreshore promenade is a short drive away for an on-leash coastal walk, but note that dogs are prohibited across Lake Pertobe Reserve itself under council rules, and the main beach between the Flume and the Breakwater is dog-free from 1 December to 31 March. For an off-leash session, Victoria Park Community Dog Park is the town's dedicated community dog park. Pepsi: Street-side tables, donut fries and a shake list this indulgent is a rare combination. Ring ahead so a big dog gets a workable spot.

The handful of outdoor tables go quickly at peak meal times, so off-peak visits give you the best shot at a spot with the dog. Good for a settled dog who copes with a busy street front.
