The Fish Tank - Pimpama Fish & Chippery

The Fish Tank is a modern take on the classic fish and chippery at 2 Soldier Bird Ave, Pimpama, on the northern Gold Coast. It is counter service rather than a lingering restaurant, with outdoor and undercover tables out front where dogs on a lead are welcome, which makes it an easy takeaway-plus-table stop when the dog is along for the drive.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor, undercover and footpath tables. Order at the counter and eat outside, as the shop itself stays people-only. Water bowls are not guaranteed, so bring your own. The tables sit in a shopping strip setting, so a dog that settles quietly under a table will be most comfortable.

The menu goes well beyond the basics: freshly cooked fish and chips, calamari, barramundi, fish tacos, poke bowls, gourmet burgers and grilled bowls, with gluten-free options available. Reviewers consistently call out crunchy chips, generous portions and friendly service. Hours run Tuesday to Friday from 10:30am to 8pm and weekends from 11:30am to 8pm, closed Monday, and the Friday dinner rush is the busiest window.

Getting there and parking

There is a car park directly in front of the shops with easy access off the M1 corridor, though it fills at peak dining times. Coming from the highway, the turn-off is well signed for the Pimpama city centre precinct.

Make a day of it

The shop works well as a post-park feed. Pimpama Fenced Dog Park in the Gainsborough Parklands precinct is a fully fenced off-leash area a short drive away, and Rufous Whistler Park Fenced Dog Park is another fenced option nearby.
