Republica sits right on the sand at the St Kilda Sea Baths, 10-18 Jacka Boulevard, a modern beachside restaurant and bar that openly welcomes dogs. It is a natural finish to a beach walk, with a roomy outdoor area facing the water.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor courtyard and the front patio facing the beach, with covered and umbrella-shaded spots for hot days. Water bowls are available. Indoors is for people, as at most Australian venues, but the outdoor areas are large and well-run.

Good to know. It is a popular hub for local dog walkers, with easy transition from the beach to a table. The kitchen does gourmet pizzas and seafood, and there is regular live music in the courtyard.

Getting there. Ticketed parking sits in front of the Sea Baths on Jacka Boulevard and behind on Pier Road. Trams 16 and 96 stop nearby on The Esplanade.

Nearby with the dogs. The beach is on the doorstep, the St Kilda breakwater walk to see the penguins is close by (dogs on-leash), and Catani Gardens is a short leashed walk away.
