Cafe Diversity

Cafe Diversity sits at 75 Redcliffe Parade, right across the road from the water, and it is one of the peninsula strip's properly dog-set-up cafes: not just a tolerated footpath table, but a cafe that keeps a menu for dogs as well as people. Locals have it down as one of north Brisbane's better dog-friendly breakfasts, and the bay view from the outdoor tables is the extra that makes waiting for a table bearable.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the shaded outdoor tables along Redcliffe Parade, on lead beside your table, with water bowls put out. The dog menu is the real draw: puppuccinos, scrambled eggs, braised beef mince and dog ice cream, which is the order on a hot morning. Ask which dog-menu items run all day versus breakfast only before you promise your dog anything. The tables sit close together and the strip is busiest on weekends and during Sunday market hours, so a settled dog will have the easier time of it.

The vibe

The menu covers everybody, by its own promise: gluten-free, nut free, paleo, vegetarian and vegan options alongside modern Australian breakfast fare. The acai bowl with house-made granola is the vegan standby, keto plates build from the hot breakfast sides, and there are scones for the morning-tea crowd. The venue's own menu page lists breakfast from 7am daily, running to 2pm Monday to Thursday and 2:30pm Friday to Sunday with lunch from 11:30am, and drinks pour from around 6:15am, though check the site for current hours.

Getting there

Street parking runs along Redcliffe Parade and tightens on weekends, with off-street options nearby. The foreshore path is directly across the road, so it works as a stop on a waterfront walk.

Suttons Beach is a short walk for time on the sand under the leash rules that apply there. For a guaranteed off-lead run, Kroll Gardens Fenced Dog Park in Clontarf puts about five hectares behind a fence with a separate small-dog yard, and Queens Beach North up the peninsula is the designated off-leash dog beach.
